# Man Utd 2–3 Brighton: Comeback Increases Pressure on Michael Carrick

Manchester United surrendered a two-goal lead to lose 3–2 against Brighton at Old Trafford, exiting the Carabao Cup and raising further questions about Michael Carrick’s difficult start to the season.

What should have been an opportunity to build confidence instead exposed familiar weaknesses. United struggled to contain Brighton’s response, with defensive hesitation and slow recovery runs allowing the visitors to turn the match around.

## **Fulham Becomes an Important Early Test**

United’s opening four Premier League matches have produced just one victory, a 5–2 win over Ipswich in which they struggled to take control for much of the first hour.

The forthcoming trip to Fulham therefore carries added significance. Carrick needs a result, but the performance must also demonstrate that United can sustain their intensity and manage difficult periods without losing their defensive structure.
