How to Open a Betway Account
A step-by-step guide to registering with Betway: what you need before you start, what each registration screen asks for, and what happens after you submit.
Opening a Betway account takes a few minutes, and the details you enter decide how smoothly everything that follows goes. Betway is operated by Betway Limited under a Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) licence, and MGA licensees must be able to confirm who their customers are. The walkthrough below shows the order of the steps. The sections under it explain each one.
ACCOUNT WALKTHROUGH

Follow an illustrative tour of the steps. Betway may change its registration screens.

Before you start
Check three things before you open the registration form:
- Your age. You must be 19 or older, or older still if the legal gambling age where you live is higher. MGA licensees must have policies to stop minors from holding an account and must ask players to confirm they are of legal age (Player Protection Directive, article 26).
- Where you are. Online gambling rules differ from country to country, and Betway does not accept customers from every country. Make sure it is legal for you to play where you live.
- Your real details. Use your legal name, your actual date of birth and your home address. These are checked later, and details that don’t match your documents are the most common reason verification stalls.
Step 1: Choose a welcome offer, or none
The first choice is whether to take a welcome offer. Offers are for new Betway customers only. They come with conditions such as a minimum stake, minimum odds or a time limit, so read the full offer terms before you choose one. You can also register without an offer. Choosing none doesn’t change anything else about your account.
Step 2: Create your login
Next you pick a username and a password and add your email address. Use a password you don’t use anywhere else, and an email address you check regularly, because account messages and verification requests are sent there.
Step 3: Add your personal details
Enter your legal name and date of birth exactly as they appear on your identity document. These are the details Betway checks your age and identity against, so a nickname or a shortened name can hold up verification later.
Step 4: Add your contact details and review
Add your phone number and address, then review everything before you submit. It is quicker to fix a typo now than to correct it once the account is open.
Step 5: Set your limits before your first deposit
After registration, and before your first deposit, MGA licensees must ask whether you want to set a deposit limit or a wagering limit (Player Protection Directive, article 14). A deposit limit caps how much you can deposit over a period, such as a day, a week or a month. It is easier to set a limit at the start than after a losing run, and you can still change it later from your account settings.
Verifying your account
Registering opens the account, but Betway may still ask you to prove your identity. That usually means a photo of an identity document, and sometimes proof of address. MGA rules let a licensee take the time it reasonably needs to verify a player’s identity before it pays out a withdrawal (article 29). When verification is outstanding, that is usually the step holding up a withdrawal. Sending clear, uncropped documents that match the details you registered with is the quickest route through.
Once checks are complete, MGA licensees must pay out a withdrawal within five working days of the request where practicable, and where possible to the same account the money came from.
Who operates Betway
Betway is run by Betway Limited, which holds MGA licence MGA/CRP/130/2006. The licence covers casino games (Type 1) and fixed-odds sports betting, including live betting (Type 2). You can check its current status yourself on the MGA licensee register. BW Game Hub is an independent site and does not open or manage Betway accounts. The walkthrough on this page is an illustration, and Betway’s own screens may look different.
Quick answers
How old do I have to be to open a Betway account?
At least 19, or the legal gambling age where you live if that is higher.
Do I have to take a welcome offer?
No. You can register without one. If you do take one, its full terms apply.
Why is Betway asking for my documents?
Licensed operators must confirm who their customers are. Betway may ask for identity documents at any point, and the check often has to be finished before a first withdrawal is paid.
Can I set a deposit limit straight away?
Yes. MGA licensees must offer deposit or wagering limits after registration and before your first deposit, and the option has to stay available afterwards.
Play responsibly
Gambling should stay entertainment. Set a budget before you play, use the limits Betway offers, and take a break when it stops being fun. Our responsible gambling page lists support organisations and the tools that can help. 19+ only.
