Payments & Withdrawals in Norway

Revolut payments, payout routes and charges for readers in Norway.

Your banking app shows a completed deposit, but the withdrawal page still says “pending”. It is easy to assume that the money is somewhere between the two accounts. Sometimes it has not left the sender at all. Finding out where it is takes more than checking the balance again.

A search for a Revolut casino usually turns up sites advertising the payment brand. For a reader in Norway, that is an incomplete answer: which transaction is supported, and can the business receive gambling payments here? We would want those answers before putting money into an account.

Why a payment may be refused in Norway

The Norwegian Gambling Authority’s payment guidance says banks and financial institutions must stop deposits and winnings connected with gambling that lacks Norwegian permission. This duty also covers transactions routed through other companies when their gambling purpose is known.

An overseas licence does not remove that restriction. The Authority’s permitted-provider guidance is the appropriate starting point for checking who may offer gambling in Norway.

Revolut’s explanation of declined gambling payments describes how it enforces local regulatory requirements, including relevant provider lists. Its support team is the contact point if you think it has blocked an authorised operator by mistake. We would ask about the refusal rather than keep retrying. An alternative route leaves the question of Norwegian permission unresolved.

Card payment, bank transfer or something else?

The word “Revolut” can describe different transactions. Paying with a Revolut card uses card details. A bank transfer uses the receiving account’s banking details. Revolut Pay is a separate checkout service, offered where the merchant supports it. The withdrawal instructions may name a different route altogether.

You may also encounter e-wallets or prepaid credit alongside ordinary cards and bank payments. A method shown in an international guide could be absent from your own account. There is no reliable universal menu for Norwegian players.

The useful detail is in the payout instructions. For example, you might be asked to prove ownership of the receiving account before money is released. Read that requirement alongside the document checklist and withdrawal limits. With prepaid credit, look for an explanation of how a payout would reach you; the code used to pay may have no such function.

Read the status before judging the speed

“Requested” means you have asked for money. “Approved” may mean the operator has finished its review. Neither necessarily confirms that the transfer has left. Ask what each status means in that service’s system, especially if the quoted deadline has passed.

Revolut’s guidance on incoming card transfers says accepted transfers should reach the account within 30 minutes. That estimate concerns a transfer to the card number, after release from the sending account. It is not a deadline for approving a casino withdrawal, and it does not override gambling-payment restrictions.

For bank payments, Revolut’s published transfer timeframes say SEPA Instant euro transfers should arrive within minutes, while regular SEPA and SWIFT transfers can take up to two business days. A NOK payment should not be assigned the euro timetable simply because both accounts are in Europe. Use the estimate for the actual currency and route.

A returned deposit is also different from a payout of winnings. Ask whether the transaction is a reversal, a refund or a new transfer before applying a processing estimate.

What “free” leaves out

Think about the amount you receive in kroner. An operator’s fee, a bank charge and a currency conversion can each affect it. A zero charge at checkout answers only part of that question.

Under Revolut’s Norway Standard fee schedule, the monthly exchange limit is NOK 10,000. A 1% fair-usage fee applies to additional currency exchange. A 1% weekend fee also applies, with weekend hours defined in New York time. Other plans differ, so check your allowance and the transaction breakdown.

As an illustration, if an entire NOK 2,000 conversion falls beyond the Standard monthly allowance, the fair-usage fee alone is NOK 20. That calculation excludes any weekend fee or other charge. Exchanging euros back into kroner later can involve another conversion and a different rate.

Revolut lists local payments in the base currency and qualifying SEPA euro payments as free to send on Standard. Other international routes can carry fees, including deductions by intermediary banks. Those sending terms should not be treated as a casino’s withdrawal policy.

Keep the payment question in perspective

To explore payments beyond a provider’s logo, we recommend BW Game Hub Norway as a useful reading option. Our Norway section brings casino explanations and sports coverage together, placing the banking question within a broader view of the market. We publish information; the payment service and operator confirm their own conditions.

For a missing payment, keep the confirmation and sender’s transaction reference. Until the funds arrive, leave them out of your budget. This guide is for readers aged 18 and over. Hjelpelinjen offers anonymous advice about gambling and its effect on your finances on 800 800 40.
