Barcelona are reportedly demanding at least €65 million for Ferran Torres as Paris Saint-Germain step up their pursuit of the Spain international following his decisive role in his country’s 2026 FIFA World Cup triumph.
The 26-year-old has informed Barcelona that he would like to join PSG this summer, according to ESPN, with the French champions seeking to strengthen Luis Enrique’s attacking options ahead of the new season. Reports in France and Spain also indicate that Torres has already given his approval to the proposed move, although an agreement between the clubs has yet to be reached.
Barcelona’s position has hardened as negotiations develop. According to reports citing SPORT, the Catalan club now value Torres at a minimum of €65 million, a figure significantly above some of the numbers previously discussed between the two clubs.
Barcelona Raise Valuation After Torres’ World Cup Heroics
Torres’ stock has risen sharply following a memorable summer with Spain.
The Barcelona forward scored the decisive goal as Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in the FIFA World Cup final at New York New Jersey Stadium on July 19, securing the country’s second men’s world title. FIFA also named Torres Player of the Match after his match-winning contribution.
That achievement strengthened an already impressive résumé for a player who enjoyed one of his most productive club seasons in 2025/26.
Barcelona’s own historical database credits Torres with 21 goals in 49 appearances during the campaign. His broader record stands at 65 competitive goals across five seasons with the club, having developed from predominantly a wide attacker into a player capable of operating effectively through the centre.
That versatility has been particularly valuable to Barcelona. Torres has featured on both flanks and through the middle, providing Hansi Flick with a flexible attacking option while steadily improving his output in front of goal.
PSG Look to Capitalise on Contract Situation
Barcelona’s asking price does not mean PSG are prepared to immediately meet it.
Recent reports have placed the French club’s potential offer somewhere between €50 million and €55 million, while Barcelona are seeking a premium following Torres’ strong club campaign and World Cup success. PSG also have leverage because of Torres’ contract situation.

That existing relationship gives the potential move an obvious sporting dimension. Torres understands the tactical demands of Luis Enrique’s football, while his ability to operate centrally or from wider areas would provide PSG with additional flexibility across the front line.
Reports that personal terms have been discussed or agreed increase the likelihood of negotiations progressing, although no transfer can be considered complete until Barcelona and PSG settle on a fee.
Hansi Flick Keeps Distance From Transfer Speculation
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has avoided offering a detailed public assessment of Torres’ situation while his squad returns from an unusual preseason disrupted by international commitments.
The German has emphasised the need to respect players’ post-World Cup holidays and has remained cautious when discussing potential arrivals and departures.
His position reflects the wider uncertainty surrounding Barcelona’s attacking options. Torres’ departure would remove a player who delivered 21 goals last season and has become increasingly comfortable as a central forward, leaving the club with another significant position to address before the transfer window closes.
Torres Sale Could Shape Barcelona’s Next Major Move
From Barcelona’s perspective, a sizeable transfer fee would provide important flexibility in reshaping their attack.
The club have been linked strongly with Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez, who remains one of their leading attacking targets, and Torres’ possible departure could accelerate the search for another centre-forward. ESPN has reported that Álvarez is Barcelona’s preferred No.9 target following Robert Lewandowski’s departure.
A €65 million sale would also represent a significant recovery on Barcelona’s original investment while removing Torres’ salary from the wage structure.
That financial benefit must be balanced against what Barcelona would lose on the pitch. At 26, Torres is entering what should be the prime years of his career, has already scored 65 competitive goals for the club and has just produced the defining moment of Spain’s World Cup-winning campaign.
For PSG, meanwhile, the attraction is similarly clear. They would be acquiring an experienced yet still relatively young international forward who already understands Luis Enrique’s methods and can cover several attacking roles.
The remaining question is whether the clubs can bridge the valuation gap. Torres appears increasingly receptive to Paris, but Barcelona’s reported €65 million demand ensures that PSG will have to make a significant financial commitment before one of the summer’s most notable transfers can be completed.
